Is SparkStation's Video Editor free?
Yes. Editing, transitions, color adjustments, text overlays and aspect-ratio switching carry no separate charge, and rendering happens locally in your browser.
Does it upload my video to a server?
No. The export step renders the timeline to a single MP4 file directly on your device. Nothing is uploaded during export, and no rendered copy is stored on a server; if your browser can't produce MP4, it falls back to WebM automatically.
Can I export a project file to Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?
Yes, via a separate Send to Editor button. One-click cards download a ready file for Final Cut Pro (FCPXML), Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (both XML). An Advanced picker also lets you choose the format manually, XML, FCPXML or EDL, and a frame rate from 23.976 to 60fps. Multi-track video and audio, trims, clip order, markers and basic text titles carry over; transition effects and per-clip audio levels set only in this editor don't, and media isn't copied, you relink it by filename in your NLE's media browser.
What's the difference between Export and Send to Editor?
Export renders one finished MP4 (WebM fallback) at 1280×720, 1920×1080 or 720×1280, a video file, ready to publish. Send to Editor produces an editable timeline file instead (XML, FCPXML or EDL) that opens in Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve for further cutting. Both render locally; neither uploads your footage.
What doesn't carry over when I send a timeline to my NLE?
Two things, by the tool's own on-screen warnings: the transition effect itself (Fade, Wipe, Slide, Zoom, etc.) doesn't carry over, only the cut points do, so transitions need re-adding once the project lands in the NLE, and per-clip or per-track audio levels and mutes set only in this editor aren't preserved, so exported audio plays at each source clip's native level.
How many tracks can I use?
Tracks are added on demand with a single + Add track control, with no fixed limit hit during testing. Each track has its own mute toggle.
What transition styles are available?
Six: Cut, Crossfade, Fade, Wipe, Slide and Zoom. Each clip has an independent Transition In and Transition Out, both from the same six-option list, each with its own adjustable duration.
Can I color grade clips individually?
Yes. Every clip has its own Filter Preset (None, B&W, Sepia, Vintage, Cool, Warm) plus independent Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Vignette sliders, alongside Opacity, Scale and Crop.
Can I add text or captions?
Yes, via three presets, Title (bold, centered), Subtitle (smaller, lower third) and Caption (plain, minimal), each placed on its own timeline track and stylable with 12 font families, size, alignment and weight.
What aspect ratios does it support?
Four: Widescreen 16:9, Vertical 9:16, Square 1:1 and Portrait 4:5. Switching reflows the entire canvas and timeline live, with an on-screen confirmation of the new ratio.
What happens to a video clip's audio?
Importing a video with sound automatically creates a linked audio clip on its own track. Volume adjusts from that linked clip by default; an Unlink audio & video control splits them apart when independent control is needed.
